About

Hizkia Pepijn Jansen (b. 03-11-1995) is an artist working across sculpture, installation, and storytelling. His practice weaves together personal experience, cultural memory, and material exploration, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary techniques. His projects explore the intersection of ritual, space, and identity, often using reclaimed materials to create art that invites reflection on the personal, societal, and universal.

Jansen’s path has taken him from his studies at Zokei University in Tokyo, where he delved into Japanese art forms, to a transformative journey up Mt. Fuji, which influenced his approach to sculpting and materiality. An injury during this time shifted his practice towards music, illustration, and video, teaching him patience and new ways to communicate his ideas. After completing his studies at Willem de Kooning Academy, Jansen further expanded his skills through work in metal and construction.

His art continues to evolve, grounded in a deep commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the power of visual language to connect and transform.
